Open Door Ministries Holds Annual Feast of Caring
Community Event Serves Up Fellowship with a Warm Bowl of Soup

HIGH POINT – The annual Feast of Caring, sponsored by Open Door Ministries of High Point, was held Thursday, November 17th at the First Presbyterian Church.
The Feast of Caring offered an evening of fellowship where guests enjoyed a variety of delicious soups and breads prepared by local restaurants and churches in addition to music and a showcase of handmade pottery donated by artists from all over North Carolina. A minimum donation of $25 per family included the opportunity to select one piece of pottery to take home (one bowl per family, first-come, first-served) or a bundle of beautiful holiday cards.
“The Feast of Caring is a crucial fundraising event for Open Door Ministries,” says Open Door Ministries Executive Director Steve Key. “As the holidays and cold weather approach, we see an increased need in our community in the areas of food, emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities, and providing shelter.” The funds raised through this event go to support Open Door Ministries programs which include the Father's Table Food Kitchen, Emergency Services, Homeless Shelter, and the Arthur Cassell Transitional House.
Open Door Ministries Holds Annual CROP Walk

On Sunday, October 2 Open Door Ministries in partnership with Church World Service hosted the 2011 CROP Hunger Walk. This year’s event was held at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point. Funds that were raised benefit Open Door Ministries Father’s Table program which fights hunger in our community everyday by serving three meals a day, six days a week.
Open Door Ministries Hosts Volunteer Banquet:

The ODM Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held March 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in High Point. Volunteers were served dinner by Open Door Board Members and Staff as a thank you for all the time spent giving back to others in our community.
Volunteer letter of thanks from the evening:
Please share our thanks with everyone who was involved in the wonderful meal for volunteers on Tuesday night at First Presbyterian Church. Those of us who went from Conrad Memorial Baptist Church felt very special to be able to share a delicious meal and enjoy the testimonies and comments from the speakers. It was humbling to be a part of that large group and know that we were all doing our small part to make a big difference in the lives of others.
Thank you again for a delightful evening.
Sincerely,
Vicki Craven
